The Company Held Mid-Year Employee Communication Meeting of 2020
On August 12 and 13, the company held the Mid-Year Employee Communication Meeting of 2020 in Quanzhou and Quangang by videoconferencing. The meeting summarized the work of the first half of the year, analyzed the current situation and deployed key tasks in the second half of the year. The meeting mobilized all employees to unite as one, make unremitting efforts, take on the responsibility bravely, and ensure the successful completion of the annual targets and tasks.
The meeting stressed that, it was very urgent and difficult for us to complete the annual tasks and targets with the effect of the pandemic and under current severe situation. Whether we could overcome difficulties, make breakthroughs and complete the annual targets or not, the following five months are critical. The more severe the situation was and the more pressing the timetable was, the more we must adhere to the development targets and make unremitting efforts to achieve development. Only when we have a clear understanding of the situation, enhance our confidence, and morale, concentrate our energy, seize the day with a sense of urgency and commitment, take more active actions, spare no efforts, stick to the targets, strive forward, and complete all work at current stage in a down-to-earth manner, so can we ensure the completion of the annual targets and tasks.
The company management Gu Yuefeng, Joost Emmen, Nouraddin A. Yousuf and Yang Hongbin attended the meeting. Vice President Nouraddin A. Yousuf chaired the meeting.
Gu Yuefeng, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company, delivered a speech. He commented that from the start of this year, facing the pressure of pandemic prevention/ control and production/ operation, under the leadership of the company's Party Committee and Office of President, all employees made concerted efforts to overcome difficulties. The situation was unfavorable in the first quarter, but we quickly reversed the situation in June and July. In particular, the company's crude oil purchase in June was among the best in Sinopec system and was praised, which should be credited to the hard work of the whole organization.
Gu Yuefeng analyzed the changes in international and domestic market and the industry under the pandemic, and dissected the severe situation faced by the company. He said that facing the great changes not seen in a century, we should adhere to a comprehensive, dialectical and long-term view on the current situation, and strive to cultivate new opportunities in the crisis and open up a new situation in the changing business climate. We should be soberly aware of the fierce competition among the surrounding enterprises, look forward to the macro situation and industry trend, work out the new project plan and pay attention to the projects contributing to industry competitiveness.
Gu Yuefeng stressed that in the second half of the year, the company's operation and development was facing an extremely complex situation, the tasks were arduous, and the work requires full efforts. We should take responsibility bravely, overcome difficulties, take response measures quickly, highlight the key focus, and manage pandemic prevention / control and production / operation. We should spare no effort to meet the continuous challenges, and strive for greater accomplishments in optimization and adjustment, market development, cost reduction and profitability improvement, and production safety. We should make more efforts to publicize outstanding and model deeds in the action of meeting the “100-Day Challenges”, create a good atmosphere and work hard to successfully complete the annual targets and tasks.
President Joost Emmen made the work report titled as Let Us Meet Challenges Head-on, Move Determinedly Forward, and Strive to Fulfill Safety & Profitability Target of Whole Year. In his report, he summarized the business performance and key focus areas from January to July 2020, recognized the good achievements in pandemic prevention/ control and production/ operation, and in the action of meeting the “100-Day Challenges” in the first half of 2020. He analyzed the situation, deployed the main targets and key work in the following five months of this year, and shared the SPIES commitment model.
Joost Emmen required that in the following five months of this year, the main target was to meet the continuous challenges, focus on the Top 10 tasks, further improve and advance implementation, turn plans into actions and achievements, ensure safe and reliable operation and profitability, and ensure smooth and successful realization of our commitment to the Board of Directors.
Vice President Nouraddin A. Yousuf put forward requirements on implementing the spirit of the meeting. He stressed that we should unite our mindset and actions into the company's decisions and deployments, ensure effective breakdown of each task, and take practical and solid measures to drive the implementation of the spirit of the meeting. Management personnel at all levels should set examples in taking responsibility and acting bravely, and leading employees to make new achievements in this challenging year.
Entrusted by Vice President Zhao Tianxing, Mak Chee Wah, General Manager of HSE Department, delivered a special report on safety and reliability.
At the meeting, the company management and department responsible people answered the questions put forward by employees, such as compensation and benefits, equipment reliability, and employee training.
