On the afternoon of March 25, Erik van Beek, Refining Director for Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific of ExxonMobil Fuels & Lubricants Company, Matt Bergeron, Vice President of Fuels Business for Asia Pacific, Fernando Salazar, Manufacturing Manager for Asia Pacific, paid a virtual visit to the company via video link.
At the meeting, President Joost Emmen, Vice President Lin Xu and Vice President Zhao Tianxing reported the company's business performance, the improvement plan towards world-class, the progress of safety culture improvement, master plan and smart company plan.
Erik van Beek commented that FREP, facing the severe business environment of 2020, achieved encouraging achievements in operational excellence, and realized the best ever performance in many aspects such as personal safety, process safety, environmental protection and operation optimization. We should attribute the accomplishments to FREP management and employees for the competitiveness the demonstrated in coping with the severe business environment, the leadership for improving safety culture and the execution strength for controlling cost. He expressed gratitude to the management and employees of the company for their unremitting efforts in pandemic prevention and control, safe operation, optimization and improvement.
Erik van Beek commented that it is crucial to continuously improve the competitiveness of the company under the current market and business environment. The master plan set a clear direction for future improvement of competitiveness. He hoped that FREP would be open minded, maintain the good momentum and continuously advance work efficiently.
Matt Bergeron thanked the management and employees of FREP for their close attention to safety, health, production and operation, and congratulated FREP’s outstanding performance of 2020. He said that 2021 would be a year full of challenges. As large number of new capacities having better energy efficiency and highly integrated will be put into operation in China, FREP would be faced with more fierce market competition. He hoped that FREP would clearly understand the current and future business environment, develop and take actions to improve capacity utilization of the existing plant, and maintain close communication with shareholders to jointly drive forward the Master Plan.
The attendees of the meeting also exchanged opinions on the report of the shareholders safety cold eye review, fully affirmed the progress made by FREP in improving safety culture since 2019, and discussed the improvement opportunities in terms of safety leadership, system compliance and safety competency. All expressed expectations to FREP for focusing on the critical few that will move the needle, effectively improving safety competency of employees and contractors, strengthening process safety awareness and improving incident investigation quality, ensuring the sustainability of each improvement items, and completing the safety improvement plan of 2021 with high quality.
