On July 25, 2012, FREP held an opening ceremony of “Factory Open Day” activity and an inauguration ceremony of “Meeting FREP” Summer Camp for No.5 Middle School of Quanzhou, Fujian, China and Quanzhou Teenagers’ Chemical Innovation Ability Development and Practice Base. Vice President Abdullah H. Al Sebail and Vice President Charles Brian Ablett, Chen Guocai, official of Quanguang District, Liu Shufang, President of No.5 Middle School of Quanzhou, Zou Xiong, and Secretary of Party Branch of NO.5 Middle School of Quanzhou, as well as 60 students from No.5 Middle School of Quanzhou who will take part in the summer camp attended the opening ceremony.

Vice President Charles Brian Ablett welcomed the students in his speech to take part in the “Meeting FREP” Summer Camp and hoped they could put aside the schoolbags and enjoy the summer camp, know more about FREP’s efforts in development, production & operation, especially environmental protection and understand the close relation between daily life and petrochemical enterprises.

 Liu Shufang, President of No.5 Middle School of Quanzhou, said in her speech that No.5 Middle School of Quanzhou is a level one middle school in Fujian Province and FREP is a super large-sized petrochemical enterprise. “Today, the inauguration ceremony of “Meeting FREP” Summer Camp for No.5 Middle School of Quanzhou, Fujian, China and Quanzhou Teenagers’ Chemical Innovation Ability Development and Practice Base sets an example for cooperation between school and enterprise, who will make the best of their respective advantages and achieve win-win through cooperation”. She also hoped that both parties could continuously enhance communication and exchange, strengthen friendship, further expand areas of cooperation and actively explore new ideas in school-enterprise cooperation, so as to drive school-enterprise cooperation forward.

Following professionals, students visited the exhibition room, central control room, production area and watched the short film of petrochemical popularization with enthusiasm; listened to the special lecture of petrochemical industry made by professionals and experienced “Little Chemist” tests, etc.

Through the visit, the students were interested in the fact that FREP is dedicated to sustainable development and responsible care, knew more about petrochemical enterprises and understood that petrochemical enterprises were indispensable in life. They hoped that the enterprises could manage the factories well and work together to be good neighbors.
