February 24 marked China’s traditional Yuanxiao Festival. To celebrate the special day, a sweet soup ball making competition was staged on the second floor of the canteen in the living quarters. The exciting contest attracted the families of many employees.

The venue of the competition turned out to be a hive of activity. Some people were kneading dough, while others were mixing the fillings. Participants of the contest included not only employees from all units of the Company, but also expat managers.

The participants clustered around the tables, trying their hands at making sweet soup balls, dumplings and salads. They showed off their skills and joy was overflowing. The smiling faces, the sweet soup balls and the dumplings demonstrated the camaraderie among the employees. After less than an hour, many plates full of round soup balls, differently flavored dumplings, and colorful salads appeared on the tables. The highly realistic dragon-shaped food dish wowed the viewers. All people helped themselves to the fragrant sweet soup balls, which symbolize reunion, while chatting and laughing heartily.

 “Enjoy the sweet soup balls and good luck in the new year.” Everyone enjoyed the soup balls that they had made, and offered one another their best wishes, soaking up the warmth of the big family of FREP.

After careful evaluation, the team from the Furui Hotel was awarded the first prize. The second prize went to the teams from the Finance Department, the Information Center of the Technology and Planning Department, and the Process Department office. Six other teams from the Supply and Distribution Departments and other departments received the third prize.

The Yuanxiao Festival proved a joyous occasion for everyone, and the competition added to the joys of the special day, allowing all people to have a fascinating and thrilling evening.
