FREP inviting Residents to Visit the Construction of People Favored Enterprise in Factory
On the morning of September 4, FREP held “Factory Open Day” activity and welcomed a group of special visitors who were ten college-graduate village officials with fourteen resident representatives from surrounding communities to enter the corporate production floor to have a look of the details and visit the corporate safety production and environmental protection work on site.
These college-graduate village officials explained what they saw, heard and experienced about the construction of people favored enterprise to residents through the professional knowledge they had learnt and their site visitation there.
This was the third group of resident representatives who were the most professional and convincing representatives as well as the representatives requiring and inquiring most after FREP set “Factory Open Day”.
Along the way, resident representatives did not smell the pungent odor as expected. In the central control room in the new factory, rows of orderly DCS operation screens were controlling the performance of production equipments.
Resident representatives also vigorously went to the equipment site by bus to observe the conditions of safety and environmental protection. On the site of clean waste water reuse treatment, turbid waste water became so clear that they could see the bottom after being filtered by a series of processes. Environmental protection technicians introduced on site, “waste water becomes ‘purified water’ after technical treatments such as ultra-filtration and reverse osmosis, which can reduce the consumption of fresh water when equipments use that water”, to make representatives believe what they saw. When walking in front of the sulfur recovery unit (SRU), one resident representative wittily said, “I am not expecting the sulfur cream we used for the inunction and treatment of skin diseases in childhood is a kind of environment-friendly product.”
Guo Hongwei, a college-graduate village official who graduated from the specialty of chemical engineering of Minjiang University and then was accredited at Houlong Village, Houlong Town, said in network language with a smile, “even through I have learnt profession knowledge of chemical engineering in class before, today I come to the production equipments site to experience the process flow of petrochemical production myself, and go to Waste Water Treatment Factory to learn about corporate safety and environmental protection work at the sight of blue sky and white clouds, refining towers standing in a great number, pipe racks covering vertically and horizontally and a carpet of green grass etc, which are practical things that I could not experience in class. Therefore, I think I understand what is seeing is believing.” He also said that he would put aside the “mysterious veil” there for residents after returning to the community. These college-graduate village officials who graduated from Xiamen University, Fuzhou University and Jimei University and so on will set up the bridge of harmonious communications between FREP and communities.
But how to achieve the harmony between enterprise and environment as well as society becomes a problem that we have to solve in the development process as the society pays more and more attention to environmental protection. And, the participation of the social public is an important part of achieving harmonious and sustainable development. In fact, enterprise development and social harmony have become a destiny co-community, inseparably. It is the best compliment to build people favored enterprises and let ordinary people participate, experience themselves and criticize.
Qiu Jinrong, head of Qiucuo Village Committee, Nanbu Town, said, “Our Qiucuo Village is closest to the production equipment zone, and the multi-functional sir monitoring station valued beyond 1.80 million yuan is set in our office building of Village Committee, so that we can see the monitoring data everyday. If the enterprise is not confident, it shall not let our ordinary people see the monitoring data at the first sight, shall it?” when using his own village to explain the environmental protection work in FREP.
After visiting the factory area, Lu Dong, Chairman and President of FREP, made a introduction to resident representatives with enterprise developing, undertaking social responsibility, adopting clean process, providing green products, and utilizing resource circularly etc as the core. Various professional and technical personnel and resident representatives communicated and discussed about a series of questions what they concerned such as FREP production and surrounding environment conditions, with a frank and honest and enthusiastic atmosphere.
FREP have introduced and popularized some basic petrochemical knowledge during the visit and communication, and made these resident representatives have clearer understanding of the wide application of petrochemical derivatives like ethylene and aromatics in production and living.
Liu Yuqiang, one resident representative, proposed that FREP should enter communities in the future to strengthen the publicity and the communication between FREP and communities and breakthrough the phenomenon that “one party is enthusiastic while the other party is indifferent”, and also suggested FREP should establish the relationship with the public with a view to little things in the form of “micro moving”.
Resident representatives from Shicuo Village suggested that FREP should enhance the management of loading and transporting details of petrol and diesel vehicles further, and hoped FREP could pay more attention to community public welfare undertakings during the practice of carrying out mass line education.
The twenty-four community representatives who participated in this “Factory Open Day” activity also expressed their opinions respectively on FREP’s hot problems such as the “three wastes (waste gas, waste water and waste residues)” process situations and the plan of overhaul and revamp after shutdown in October.
President Lu Dong told resident representatives that FREP had detailed the record of problems they put forward, and would research the existing problems and shortages deeply, improve them as soon as possible, and feed back the improvements to residents in time, meanwhile, expressed thanks to residents for their contributions to FREP.
Through visiting, resident representatives have formed a keen interest in that FREP devotes to sustainable development and responsible care, increased their knowledge about petrochemical enterprises, and known that petrochemical enterprises are necessary for living. Therefore, they hope FREP can manage its factories well and both of them can try to be good neighbors with each other.
