On June 29, an expert group led by Wei Lijun, vice president of the China Academy of Safety Science and Technology of the Ministry of the Emergency Management of P.R.C., came to the company to supervise management of major hazard sources of hazardous chemicals.

The company management Saleh Zaid, Zhao Tianxing, Lin Xu and Neo Ee Ee met with Wei Lijun and his group.

Wei Lijun conveyed the requirements of the Ministry of Emergency Management of P.R.C. for the special supervision and verification of major hazard sources of hazardous chemicals, emphasized that enterprises must strictly implement the principle responsibility for work safety and make every effort to ensure work safety. He said that FREP was a large-scale Sino-foreign joint venture petrochemical company with rich safety management experience and advanced safety management concepts. FREP should sum up experience, implement measures, strengthen responsibilities, and further improve safety management level up to higher and stricter standards, so as to facilitate long-term healthy development of the company.

Wei Lijun pointed out that this special supervision focused on "risks", implementation of management of major hazard sources of hazardous chemicals and rectifications of hazards, and would spot check major rectification projects of major hazard sources of hazardous chemicals to verify whether work safety of the company was implemented properly.

Saleh Zaid, president of the company, welcomed Wei Lijun and his group. He said that work safety had been the goal that FREP had always adhered to. Guidance of the expert group not only showed that the state attached great importance to work safety of petrochemical enterprises, but also provided us with a good opportunity to learn and improve. For the opinions and suggestions put forward by the expert group, we would adhere to problem orientation, make every effort to complete rectifications, carry out safety work in a solid and detail-oriented manner, so as to ensure safe and stable production and operation of the company.

Lin Xu, vice president of the company, reported the company's safety work on behalf of the company in terms of implementation of the principle responsibility for work safety, safety management of major hazard sources, construction and operation of the dual prevention mechanism, and hazard investigation and rectifications. He said that FREP continuously improved its safety management system to ensure that major hazard sources were always under control, regularly carried out special safety self-examination and self-rectification, reported and handled issues and timely rectified and removed potential incident hazards to ensure safe operation of the company.

Wang Peng, member of the expert group and deputy director of the Hazardous Chemical Division of Henan Emergency Management Department, introduced the members of the expert group and the division of work based on disciplines.

According to the division of work by discipline, the expert group carefully reviewed the company's systems, documents and records, inquired about the details, and went deep into the plant site to carefully inspect work safety on site.

Soon after the supervision and verification was completed, the company organized the management personnel of relevant departments, Business Team Managers and professionals to conduct in-depth analysis on the opinions and suggestions put forward by the expert group, and developed a detailed action plan to achieve the goal of immediate action and rectification.

Leaders and professionals of relevant departments of Fujian Province, Quanzhou City and Quangang District also participated in the supervision and verification. (Zhang Lei)
